Tourists can rent a car in Dubai with a passport and a valid driving license. With Prox Rentals, you choose a car, book by WhatsApp or phone, and we deliver it free anywhere in Dubai. You must be 23 or older.
Here is the whole process in five steps, from choosing a car to handing it back.
Step 1: Choose the Right Car
Think about how many people are traveling, how much luggage you have and where you will drive.
- Solo travelers and couples: a small sedan is easy to drive and park. The Nissan Sunny 2025 and Toyota Yaris 2023 are AED 99 a day + 5% VAT.
- Small groups: a small SUV gives you more room. The Nissan Kicks 2024 is AED 119 a day + 5% VAT.
- Families: our family cars are 7-seaters, such as the Honda CR-V 2026, 7 Seats, at AED 263 a day + 5% VAT.
- A special trip: our luxury cars include the Mercedes-Benz E 300 2025 at AED 649 a day + 5% VAT.
Car pages show real photos of our own cars. You get the model, year and color shown.
Step 2: Prepare Your Documents
As a tourist, you need:
- Your passport.
- A valid driving license.
You can drive on any license the RTA accepts on the day. You can also drive on an International Driving Permit together with your home license.
Not sure about your license? Send us a photo and we will tell you.
Drivers aged 23 or older can rent. Drivers aged 20 to 22 need management approval.
Step 3: Book by WhatsApp or Phone
Reservations go by WhatsApp or phone and are confirmed by a person. There is no online checkout and no form to fill in.
Tell us your dates, the car you want and where you are staying. We confirm the car, the price and the terms before you book.
Daily rentals have no minimum period. Free cancellation any time before handover.
Step 4: Get the Car Delivered
Delivery is free anywhere in Dubai, with no minimum rental, and we deliver within 20 minutes. We can bring the car to your hotel or another address in Dubai.
At handover, Prox staff check your documents. Then the security hold is placed:
- AED 1,500 for tourists, as a refundable hold.
- On a credit card, or as a cash deposit. Debit cards are not accepted.
The rental itself can be paid in cash or by card. Look the car over with our team before you drive off.
Step 5: Drive and Return
A few things to know while you have the car:
- Fuel: full to full. Return the car with a full tank.
- Mileage: economy cars include 250 km a day, luxury cars 200 km a day.
- Salik: charged at the current RTA rate for each crossing, with nothing added. No admin fee.
- Fines: billed at actual amount. No markup, no admin fee.
- Help: 24/7 roadside assistance with a replacement car.
Planning to drive to Oman? This is allowed only with prior approval. You need Oman insurance and documents, and we need 2 days’ notice.
After you return the car, the bank releases the hold in about 15 working days. Read our FAQs for more details.
